Start with Yes Website

Start with YES

StartwithYES.org is an online resource for Jewish families caring for children with special needs. These families, for a variety of reasons, may feel that a Bar, Bat, or B’nai Mitzvah is out of reach. A “Bar Mitzvah” (for boys), “Bat Mitzvah” (for girls), or “B’nai Mitzvah” (plural) is a significant religious ceremony recognizing the ascension of a Jewish child into adulthood. This website is a compilation of inspirational adaptive and inclusive B’nai Mitzvah success stories.

The Ubuntu Project

“Ubuntu” is a South African word that means humanity towards others. This typographic illustration is inspired by the double helix structure of DNA. The fact that all human beings share more than 99% of their DNA is testimony to the reality of our global community and the insignificance of our differences.

E Pluribus Unum: Out of Many, One

This  illustration uses the flag of the United States with a palette of skin colors to declare the spirit of a nation strengthened by diversity.

Find Common Ground

This graphic/typographic illustration, inspired by a trip to the Middle East, is a prayer for areas of conflict to live in peace. Upon close inspection, one can see the words “love the neighbor as thyself” are printed over and over again—completely covering the countries in the Middle East.

Going to a Good Cause

“Going once … going twice … going to a good cause” was the headline and rallying call for the Alfred University School of Art and Design auction of student and faculty artwork after the tragic events of 9/11. The auction raised over $17,000 for the New York City Central Labor Council.
